The Story of KOMO MAI

A core tenet of Hawaiian island life is komo mai, which — sure — means, “welcome.” But really, it is a philosophy, a way of life: Komo mai is people coming together, creating a sense of community, honoring nature’s bounty and extending open arms that greet strangers with the Aloha Spirit. If only more people in this world knew what komo mai felt like. It starts with you and me. Aloha.

How to Hang the Art

Each acrylic float has a sturdy backing frame that makes the piece float about 3/4" off the wall. When you receive your art, all hanging hardware and hanging instructions will be included. The floats are hung with a French cleat that gets screwed into the wall using the provided anchors. The art then sits securely and sturdy on the cleat, making sure it won't fall off the wall even if you accidentally bump into it in high-traffic areas. And remember, if you are in the Greater Seattle Area, you can take advantage of my complimentary white glove installation service!

The Framing Upgrade, Explained

If you prefer a more traditional, framed art presentation, simply choose my Custom Frame Upgrade at checkout! After your purchase, I will work with you to choose the perfect custom frame that matches the art and your home. Please note: Framed or not, all my artworks get produced using my signature TruLife acrylic mounting process to preserve The Window Effect!

Frequently Asked Questions

Explain to me again how THE FOUNDATION collection works?

Pieces in this collection are an entry-level investment into my art that's perfect for first-time art buyers or those with a limited budget or limited space. Available as smaller open edition prints, these pieces still let you experience The Window Effect Difference, just on a smaller scale.

How do I hang the acrylic floats?

Each acrylic float has a sturdy backing frame that makes the piece float about 3/4" off the wall. When you receive your art, all hanging hardware and hanging instructions will be included. The floats are hung with a French cleat that gets screwed into the wall using the provided anchors. The art then sits securely and sturdy on the cleat, making sure it won't fall off the wall even if you accidentally bump into it in high-traffic areas. And remember, if you are in the Greater Seattle Area, you can take advantage of my complimentary white glove installation service!

Do I have to worry about glare, fading or scratching?

No! I am using TruLife® acrylic — which has been treated to significantly reduce glare from even large windows or other light sources. That acrylic is also UV protected and scratch resistant. You'll be able to quickly, easily and safely clean the art with a microfiber cloth.

Can I choose any frame with the Framing Upgrade?

There are a million framing options out there, and I am here to help you choose the one that matches your vision. You can choose any frame that stays within the additional investment you make for the Framing Upgrade, which covers all but the most extravagant framing options. if you prefer one of those, the difference between the final frame cost and the amount paid for the Framing Upgrade will be your responsibility before the artwork can be framed.

How quickly does my art ship?

All my art ships free worldwide within one to two weeks from my production facility (allow twice that time for framed artworks). Please note that since every piece is custom made to fit your exact space, taste and budget, sometimes production times can fluctuate. I'll communicate with you throughout the process and am always available with my personal cellphone for any questions. Read my full shipping policy here.

How do international orders work?

I am proud to offer free global shipping on all my signature artworks. Simply choose a piece of art you love, purchase using my secure online checkout, and I will ship the art to you within 1-2 weeks in most cases. Please note that depending on your location, delivery times will vary. Please also note that you are solely responsible for any customs fees or other taxes your location may impose upon receipt of the art.

What if the art arrives damaged?

In the unlikely event that the art arrives damaged, you are covered by my no-worry-guarantee. Just document the damage, reach out to me, and I'll get you a replacement piece asap.

What if I don't like the art when it arrives?

Not to worry! Once you receive the art, you'll have 90 days to initiate a no-questions-asked return. Let's be real, though — you are not going to want to part ways with the art ever again (just ask all those folks who left me dozens of shiny five-star reviews)! But you do have the option, just in case. You can read my full return and refund policy here.

Is your online checkout secure?

My online gallery is powered by Shopify, one of the world's leading eCommerce platforms. Additionally, I have an independent third party firm regularly review my store's digital security systems to prevent any outside interference.

ART FOR CHANGE-MAKERS.

I am a proud member of 1% for the Planet and its mission of protecting our only home. As part of my CONSERVATION PLEDGE, I have committed to donating 1% of every sale to my Purpose Partners — organizations who fight to protect the land shown in your artwork. That means over its life in my gallery, this piece will generate roughly $2000 supporting public lands conservation. That's art with an impact.
