THE STORY OF "CLARITY"
There is a German proverb: “Den Wald vor lauter Bäumen nicht mehr sehen”, which — to save you the frantic Google search — loosely translates to “Can’t see the forest for the trees.” It’s something I heard again and again growing up, whenever clutter and noise clouded my judgment or decision-making. It’s something that stuck with me, and it is a principle that I apply — however subconsciously that might be — in all the pieces I produce: Photography is the art of subtraction, of removing what’s not essential to be able to see clearer what is. Does that sound familiar? It sure does to me.
Why is this image blurred then, you may ask, rather than crystal clear? Because CLARITY is not about the final outcome, per se. Rather, it is about the process. Sometimes, we need a little bit of help in order to see what might be right in front of us. It serves as a gentle nudge for us to remember the things that are truly important in our lives, once all the clutter is removed. All of a sudden, the image becomes clear again, but in individual ways, for each of us. So, what do you see?

MY ART & YOUR INSPIRATION GIVE BACK
I am a proud member of 1% for the Planet and its mission of protecting our only home. The concept is simple: The land has given me much, so I want to give back. That’s why I have committed to donate 1% of every sale of every artwork to select nonprofits that are working to protect the land shown in your piece. That means, over its life in my gallery, CLARITY will generate roughly $2000 in donations supporting the NATIONAL FOREST FOUNDATION.
