"IF THERE WAS ONLY YESTERDAY"

I made this image on an early morning hike with my friend Shawn in Rocky Mountain National Park. We had risen long before the sun, hiked up through the snow and the cold to one of the most picturesque lakes in the park — with the idea of creating some nice landscape photos of the first light illuminating the mountains.

But once the first light came, I was enamored with the stories the ice told, with all its cracks and bubbles and wind-swept rough surface. It was serendipitous beauty at its very best, and once I pressed the shutter, I knew I had captured something far more powerful than the beautiful landscape photograph I had set out to create that morning.

This... this was special.

I am a proud member of 1% for the Planet and its mission of protecting our only home. The concept is simple: The land has given me much, so I want to give back. That’s why I have committed to donate 1% of every sale of every artwork to select nonprofits that are working to protect the land shown in your piece.
