THE STORY OF "ALCHEMY"
America’s first park is a space to grow old in. The slow-ticking clock soothes the mind into an enthralled trance. Rosy morning light spreads the rising sun. A breeze climbs up the valley’s walls, gently huffing, kindly puffing, then holdings its breath altogether, as not to disturb the pageant creation.
Moran’s vision here was one of alchemy and time, a wondrous liaison of the elements. He knew, what could have been just yesterday: In between these timeless yellow canyon walls hides in plain sight much more than a mesmerizing view.
Here awaits the gift of a magnifying glass into this great and unbounded world. As I slowly lose control of my sights, I feel the kind of human weakness overcome me that is most often experienced in the face of numbing beauty: of wanting know it all, all by myself; and then, more amicably, share it all, tell it all, show it all.
