THE STORY OF "FIERCE"
Here, in the depths of the Yellowstone, this largest of still freely and publicly roaming herds of American bison has retreated to the only place left where their brethren have meandered continuously since prehistoric times.
Fanatically and fiercely perseverant, these perpetual itinerants have always used the wisdom of time in these oblivious landscapes to brave it all: The onslaught of man, incessant winds, the moody fluctuations of life in the hinterlands. But now, too often mistaken for tame, silly as that may be, these totemic deities of wildness are outnumbered by their past nonetheless. They have come to be a cautionary tale of what may never become a museum’s wall.
Today, this ceremonial mainstay of the West is fighting for its rightful future place where it has always been: flourishing under big skies, in howling wilderness, unshackled, bold, and forever carrying the badge of a proud heritage.
